Glorious morning 

Gentle breeze 

Sun streaming 

Not too hot…yet.

Seagulls floating on the water

A dog also in the water

Watching

Driven by instinct?

This peaceful scenario 

Is a world away

From the insanity of

children being killed

Bombs

Drones

Living in fear.

Is this also driven by some kind of instinct?

More than one group

Claims God

But God is bigger than that.

God is with those suffering and 

Doesn’t need ego-driven displays 

Of supposed triumph.

I am grateful to live

In a place of peace

But we must choose peace.

We must encourage our leaders to choose peace

For our country and for our world

Over and over again 

So that it becomes instinct.
