Molly

Our 14 year old kelpie

is riddled with arthritis.

The drugs keep her going.

That and her quiet determination.

Our morning walk is to the beach.

Her happy place.

She’ll swim every day she can

but hates being dried!

She seems to dislike

some of our neighbours.

Don’t know why.

She’ll plod along

into the corner of our yard

and yelp bark,

seemingly at nothing!

She always greets us

When we come home.

If we’re lucky

We’ll be greeted

With her tail wagging

And a guttural ‘mmmmm’.

Best of all

is that she can randomly

decide to show her affection,

trotting over to you,

with the ‘mmmmm’

and she’ll start licking your arm

as you reciprocate

by patting her.

Such love is grace.

Precious.

  1. Thanks Patrick, what a loving ‘friend’! My sister is here from England for 2 weeks, goes back tomorrow, and a cousin comes on Sunday, also from England, but only for three days! 2. Loved it! So true. A great reminder of our pets unconditional love and the joy they bring. Merry Christmas and ‘crack open that dozen you’ve got in the boot!’
